Doing Well By Doing Good
5 March 2012
Hi All – Its been a very busy but exciting year to say the least. Hence the lack of updates from myself.
So I wanted to update you all on the upcoming public holiday happening this Wednesday 7th March – Makha Bucha Day – which is an important Buddhist festival celebrated here in Thailand as well as neighboring Cambodia and Laos. This day usually happens on the full moon day of the third lunar month.
The aim on this day is quite simply to:
1. Not commit any kind of sins
2. Do only good
3. Purify ones mind
Sounds very spiritual? It is! – But I’m going to look at the second one (Do only good) from a corporate standpoint.
After a recent meeting with an affluent Business couple on the overview of Broadgate I distinctly recall their feedback “You guys are doing well, by doing good”.
So what does that mean?
Basically what it says – we are only interested in investment opportunities / projects that are sustainable and ultimately create a benefit to society.
I won’t go into much detail other than to say one involves low cost housing and the other involves a plantation. Both very viable and very exciting!
As John (President & CEO) mentioned from the meeting, Broadgate is like an incubator for these projects. Identifying the intrinsic value and harvesting said projects for the better – now thats a skill in its own right.
So while the Broadgate group continues to do good – not just on this special day but everyday – what good will YOU be doing?
“Set your heart on doing good. Do it over and over again, and you will be filled with joy”.
